A 45-year-old woman accused of running down her husband with a station wagon on a suburban street west of Brisbane on Sunday has been charged with his murder.

Emergency services were called to Stoneywood Street at Fernvale, where they found a 50-year-old man unresponsive.

Police said bystanders and first responders did CPR but he died at the scene.

The woman was arrested shortly after and charged today with domestic violence homicide.

Detective Inspector Mick Manago said the man was standing on the street when he was struck.

He said neighbours restrained the woman until police arrived.

"This is quite traumatic incident that's occurred in a public space, in a rural area just outside of Brisbane so the public are quite distressed by what's occurred there," he said.

Detective Inspector Manago said there had been a "disturbance" at the address.

"Anyone that lives in Stoneywood Street at Fernvale and has some knowledge of what transpired there yesterday afternoon, or anyone that has previous information in regards to the dynamics of the relationship between the parties involved, please come forward," he said.

Earlier, Queensland Ambulance Service said the man had head, chest, arm and leg injuries.

The woman is due to face Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow.
