A 40-year-old woman is due to appear in court today, charged with aggravated stalking of West Australian Greens senator Jordon Steele-John.
Detectives from the WA Police Family Violence Investigation Squad said they charged the Perth woman with one count each of "aggravated stalking with intent to intimidate" and "demanding property by written threats".
The woman will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today.
Senator Steele-John took leave from parliament in October after a group of current and former party staffers wrote to Greens leader David Shoebridge about "multiple allegations of serious misconduct" by Senator Steele-John relating to "his behaviour in the presence of women".
Senator Steele-John has denied the allegations.
An independent inquiry into the allegations has been commissioned by the WA branch of the Greens.
Senator Shoebridge has previously said leave was appropriate in the circumstances and he would not prejudge the inquiry.
Senator Steele-John's office has been contacted for comment.
Senator Shoebridge's office declined to comment on the ongoing court matter and the inquiry.
