Woman flees with lover, returns home in 2 months. Then a biting fight with husband
A 27-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district has accused her husband of biting off her nose during an argument, police said on Saturday. The woman, identified as Sadhana, also alleged that her mother-in-law and father-in-law held her hands down during the attack.
Police said the incident took place after Sadhana returned to her husband's home on Thursday after being away for about two and a half months. According to the police, her return led to a confrontation between the couple, following which her husband Deepak was detained.
Sadhana alleged that Deepak attacked her on the head, bit off her nose and threw it into a drain. SHO of Sandi police station Pushpraj said a dispute broke out after her unexpected return, during which Deepak assaulted her and bit off her nose.
After getting information about the incident, police reached the spot and took both sides to the police station. Sadhana was first taken to the Community Health Centre in Sandi and was later referred to Hardoi Medical College for further treatment, police said.
Police said Sadhana had allegedly left her husband two and a half months ago to be with a lover. They said she returned by jumping from a neighbour's roof into her husband's house. Deepak's family has also levelled serious allegations against her.
Deepak's mother said Sadhana had left with a local man who was also Deepak's friend, and that the matter had earlier been reported to the police, where a compromise was reached.
She alleged that Sadhana returned unexpectedly and tried to take the children with her, leading to a dispute during which Sadhana bit her husband's private parts and later injured herself by banging her head on the ground.
Sadhana and Deepak have been married for about 10 years and have three daughters aged eight, six and three. Police said no formal complaint has so far been lodged by Sadhana, while a complaint has been filed by Deepak's mother.
