Woman’s body found in VTPS cooling canal identified

The Ibrahimpatnam police, who recovered the dismembered body parts of a woman a few days ago, have identified the victim as Kalyani, a native of Mangalagiri in Guntur district.

An orphan, Kalyani was married but had separated from her husband following family disputes. Her brother was staying in Vijayawada.

Her body was found cut into pieces in the VTPS cooling canal on September 18. The police noticed a tattoo on her hand and uploaded photographs of the woman and the tattoo on social media groups in an effort to establish her identity.

“We have identified the deceased as Kalyani. The police are trying to trace the accused who murdered the woman,” said West Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) N.S.V.K. Durga Rao.

The police have reportedly taken a few suspects into custody for questioning.
