Women’s Andhra Premier League to begin from September 19

Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) is organising the Women’s Andhra Premier League(WAPL) with the aim of promoting women’s cricket and providing more opportunities for young female cricketers, ACA president and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath said.
Addressing the media at the ACA office in Vijayawada on Wednesday, the MP said Heritage Foods Executive Director Nara Brahmani will attend the opening match of the tournament, which will be held from September 19 to 27. He added that four teams will compete in the current season of the WAPL and all the matches would be played at the Mangalagiri stadium.
The entry is free, the MP said and urged the pubic to attend the event in large numbers. He added that special buses would be arranged to transport students from Vijayawada to the stadium.
From the next season, the WAPL matches will be conducted in Visakhapatnam and Kadapa, to expand the tournament, the ACA president said.
A bike rally would be held from Vijayawada to Mangalagiri on Thursday to raise awareness among the public about the upcoming event. The MP called upon sports enthusiasts, youngsters, and students to participate in the rally.
