Both extinct animals were important members of the mammoth–woolly rhinoceros fauna that inhabited the Hulunbuir area roughly 200,000 to 10,000 years ago. The woolly rhinoceros stood about 2 meters tall and was around 4 meters long. The steppe bison was also about 2 meters tall and approximately 3.2 meters long.
