Well-known English actor Patrick Stewart, best known for his roles in Star Trek and X-Men, has passed away at the age of 86.
In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the actor's passing was announced following his death at his home in Los Angeles, California. "We announce with great sorrow the passing of Sir Patrick Stewart yesterday at his home in Los Angeles, in the loving care of his beloved wife Sunny, following a brief and poignant journey with Alzheimer's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia," the statement read.
The post also included a heartfelt tribute to the late actor, remembering his remarkable talent and contributions to the entertainment industry.
"His sonorous voice and singular talent will forever be synonymous with indelible performances in every genre. He explored the human condition in all its poetic complexity and brought hope not only to the far reaches of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but into science fiction's most iconic final frontier aboard Starship Enterprise," the post mentioned.
The post also encouraged fans to make memorial contributions to the Johns Hopkins Alzheimer's Disease Research Center Fund and the Alzheimer's Foundation of America Caregiver Resources in place of sending flowers.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios also paid tribute to Patrick through a social media post, honoring his portrayal of Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men franchise. The studio also confirmed that his final on-screen appearance will be in the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday.
"All of us at Marvel Studios are deeply saddened by the passing of Sir Patrick Stewart. Sir Patrick brought Professor Charles Xavier to life with extraordinary grace, intelligence, and humanity, defining the character for generations of fans, from X-Men to Logan to Avengers: Doomsday," they wrote.
"He was a singular talent, a generous collaborator, and a true gentleman. Our hearts go out to his wife Sunny, his children, his friends, and the countless fans around the world whose lives he touched with his art."
Patrick began his acting career as a Shakespearean stage performer before becoming one of the most recognizable faces in television and film.
He gained worldwide recognition for playing Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the science fiction television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Patrick later became widely known for portraying Professor Charles Xavier, also known as Professor X, in the X-Men film franchise.
