The 2026 World Ocean Week opened in Xiamen, east China's Fujian Province, on Thursday. At the event, participants from home and abroad are discussing deep-sea governance, marine biodiversity conservation and other issues while promoting knowledge sharing, policy dialogue and project matchmaking through multilateral cooperation mechanisms.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has repeatedly emphasized the importance of developing marine technology, marine economy and expanding international maritime cooperation.Β
Xi has also stressed that building China into a strong maritime country is a major strategic task for realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
