Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University former Vice-Chancellor Hanumanthu Lajapathirai on Saturday said that Indian dance forms reflected the country’s rich heritage and culture. He urged youngsters to pursue classical dance forms such as Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi alongside their academic studies.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a programme titled ‘Read to Understand and Dance to Express’, organised by Narthanasala Institute in association with the Rotary Club, Vizianagaram Reads and other organisations.
According to a press release issued by the organisers, Dr. Lajapathirai said Indian art forms were appreciated across the world as they were deeply rooted in the country’s heritage, culture and epics such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
Narthanasala Dance Institute founder Radhika Rani and Vizianagaram Reads founder Eswar Repalle said Vizianagaram had produced several eminent dancers who had brought laurels to the city through their performances in other States and abroad.
Vizianagaram Rotary Interact members K. Jayani, R. Manaswini and others were present.
