You're all being laid off: Reddit post claims US firm fired 80 Indians in 5 minutes

For employees working evening shifts, a routine workday can end with a meeting invite. But for one Indian customer service team, an unexpected Google Meet allegedly became the announcement that they had lost their jobs.

An employee working for a US-based financial firm has claimed that all 80 members of the company's Indian customer service team were dismissed during a five-minute online meeting.

The account, shared on Reddit, describes how workers were asked to work from home before receiving the unexpected news.

The employee wrote, "I was a part of the customer support team until yesterday for a US Bank." According to the post, the employee was working a 6.30 pm shift when the team received a meeting invitation at around 9.30 pm.

The scale of the layoffs became clear in the employee's next statement. "All 80employees! All gone.. 80 families affected just with a 5 min call," the person wrote. "I feel bad that we work for these corporates who can throw us anytime nd regret that I used to work hard at my job," the post read.

In a follow-up response, the employee attributed the decision to concerns about the Indian team's performance, writing, "They were not getting the expected output from Indian team."
