YSRCP accuses government of diverting attention from ‘Super Six’ failures

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former MLA Malladi Vishnu on Sunday accused the State government of making “baseless allegations” against the YSRCP leadership and attempting to create divisions among people along caste and religious lines to divert attention from its failure to fulfil electoral promises.

Addressing the media at Tadepalli, Mr. Vishnu alleged that the campaign against former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his family was aimed at concealing the government’s shortcomings, particularly its failure to implement the ‘Super Six’ assurances.

He alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had repeatedly changed his political positions to suit his interests. Mr. Naidu, who had earlier criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, subsequently aligned with him and was now making allegations against Mr. Jagan and his family over religious conversions, he said.

Mr. Vishnu also accused Mr. Naidu of acting against Hindu religious interests during his earlier tenure as Chief Minister. He referred to the demolition of temples during the Krishna Pushkarams, the alleged transportation of an Anjaneya Swamy idol in a tractor and the lathi-charge on devotees at Srisailam.

The former MLA alleged that sections of the media supporting the coalition government were amplifying allegations against the YSRCP leadership in an attempt to divert public attention from the government’s performance.

Mr. Vishnu said Mr. Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan should respond to the observations made by the Supreme Court in connection with the Tirupati laddu controversy. Instead of making personal allegations against political opponents, the coalition government should focus on development and fulfilment of its electoral commitments, he added.
