The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) suffered another setback in the Kadapa ZPTC elections, soon after its poor performance in the municipal polls.
Of the 39 ZPTC seats in the district, 23 were won unanimously before polling. Elections were held for the remaining 16 seats on Thursday, of which the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won 10 and the Jana Sena Party (JSP) one. The YSRCP managed to secure only two seats, both in the Pulivendula Assembly constituency.
Of the four ZPTC seats in Pulivendula, the TDP won Lingala and Pulivendula mandals, while the YSRCP emerged victorious in Vempalli and Vemula mandals.
The results for three other ZPTC seats were pending at the time of filing this report.
Of the 407 MPTC seats in the district, alliance candidates were elected unanimously in 352. Polling was held for 55 seats, but results for 28 were yet to be declared. TDP candidates were leading in most of the MPTC seats where counting was under way.
