Yuva Morcha workers stage black flag protests in Kozhikode

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers staged black-flag demonstrations against Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra at separate locations in Kozhikode district on Sunday (September 27).
The protest against Mr. Chennithala took place near Janakikkad in the Kuttiady area when his convoy was travelling to Kozhikode for a series of programmes. A group of BJYM workers reportedly moved towards the convoy on a narrow stretch of road and waved black flags. The police detained the protesters and removed them from the area.
A similar demonstration was held near Thambalamanna in the Thiruvambady area when Ms. Gandhi’s convoy was passing through the region. The convoy was travelling under the security cover of the Central Reserve Police Force and the Kerala police. Protesters positioned along the roadside reportedly moved towards the convoy and waved black flags.
Several Yuva Morcha workers were taken into custody following the demonstration. The protest against Ms. Gandhi was led by BJYM district president V.V. Sreehari and general secretary Nithin Madhusoodanan.
The demonstrations followed a black-flag protest by Youth Congress workers against Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Kollam on Saturday (September 26). The Youth Congress action had prompted criticism from the BJP over the security arrangements for the Union Minister. Yuva Morcha workers subsequently announced plans to intensify their protests against Congress leaders across Keralam.
