Zepto CBO's LinkedIn profile has more plot twists than your average resume
LinkedIn is usually a place for polished titles, neat career timelines and carefully chosen achievements. But Zepto Chief Brand Officer (CBO) Chandan Mendiratta’s profile breaks that formula by turning the tiny details of his career into a story complete with callbacks, failures, lucky breaks and a rather satisfying full-circle moment.
An X user named Karthik shared screenshots of Mendiratta’s profile, calling it one of the most engaging LinkedIn profiles he had come across. What caught his attention was not simply the CBO's list of impressive roles, but the way seemingly insignificant moments from different stages of his career eventually connected with one another.
“This is probably the most engaging LinkedIn profile I have read!” read the opening line of the post.
Karthik pointed out that most people tend to update their LinkedIn profiles in fragments, adding details when they switch jobs or making small edits along the way. Mendiratta, he felt, had approached his profile differently, stepping back to look at his career as a whole and turning it into a narrative.
One of the details that stood out was from Mendiratta’s time in a Marketing & Training role at Futures First. Beneath the role, he had written: “Hired one person during this stint who I will be working for in a few years.”
That line acquires a whole new meaning when viewed alongside his later stint at Classplus. There, Mendiratta wrote: “The guy I hired in 2012 now hires me and gives me my first CXO role.”
For Karthik, the connection between the two entries was what made the profile feel less like a conventional rsum and more like a story whose earlier chapters only make sense once you reach the later ones.
“That's not how you normally write a LinkedIn profile. That's someone connecting dots across a career," he said.
He also highlighted how Mendiratta’s profile does not shy away from the less glamorous parts of professional life. His career break of 10 months and a stint as Global Sales Head–Dining at Zomato, which Mendiratta described as a “dull period”, sit alongside more recognisable milestones, including working with celebrities such as Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif, joining Zomato, building businesses and eventually taking on a CXO role.
According to Karthik, that mix gives the profile a distinctly human quality. Instead of presenting a perfectly polished professional journey, it leaves room for uncertainty, failure, ambition, luck and coincidence.
“And the whole thing reads like Chandan is having a conversation with a reader who cares enough to go through it all.”
The post has since attracted a flood of comments, with several users praising Mendiratta’s approach as an unusually human take on documenting a corporate career.
Karthik summed up what made the profile stand out to him: “I genuinely don't think I've seen another LinkedIn profile quite like this.”
Perhaps that is precisely why it worked. In a platform full of carefully compressed career summaries, Chandan Mendiratta’s profile appears to have done something rather unexpected, it made people want to read the whole story.
The post has garnered tons of comments from people. Many pointed out how great the profile was as an example of a human approach to the corporate world.
