A helicopter crash in Zimbabwe has claimed the lives of six people, including a high-profile businessman, according to the government.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Nick Mangwana confirmed the incident in a statement on X.

He said the helicopter was carrying the businessman, three other passengers and two pilots when it crashed in Marondera, Mashonaland East on Wednesday.

“Current information indicates that there were no survivors in this crash,” the government said in a statement.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is expected to confirm the identities of the victims in due course.

Authorities have not yet provided further details about the circumstances surrounding the crash or where it occurred.

The government extended its condolences to the victims’ families and friends.

“We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the victims, their families, and their friends during this difficult time,” it said.
